BEES DIE WE DIE
Bee mindful. Tread lightly. Bee bold.
The Bee Collections are dedicated to the artist's grandmother. Most children are afraid of bees. But when ZMK was young, his grandmother assured him that one day she would come back as a bee, and he should not fear them. She told him whenever he sees a bee, that means she is checking in. To this day, he is frequently visited by bees.
BEES DIE
WE DIE
In the last year alone, 40% of honey-bee colonies in the US died. That is just one statistic in a grim pattern that scientists are calling the next mass extinction. In an homage to these essential pollinators, ZMK created this series with etched glass and LED lighting depicting a skull pressing through honey comb.
